A Comfortable Space for Outdoor Living

There is little in this world that is better for you than fresh air and sunlight. With the hectic schedule most of us have these days, it is harder than ever to find the time for this. That is, unless your backyard is a convenient space that invites you with its style. A well designed backyard is the new favorite room for people today. Let’s create a comfortable space for your outdoor living enjoyment.

A Comfortable Space for Outdoor Living

Designing Your Backyard

What does your ultimate outdoor living space need? This is different for each family and even each person. There are a few things that make the outdoors more comfortable for everyone. The first question to ask yourself when you start this process is: Do you want an entertaining space? Or something more cozy? Or do you need something that is good for both? Your answer shapes the design for your outdoor living space.

The second question to address is: What features do you want in your newly designed space? Obviously you will want some sort of deck, patio, or balcony that has features that invite you out. But what are those features? Cooking is popular for most people, whether that is a grill or a whole outdoor kitchen. Fire features are also a big draw, because they make even cool nights interesting. A pool adds to the ambiance of your outdoor space and provides you with refreshing cool in the heat of the summer. So what does your outdoor space need to make it your new favorite room?

Sitting Areas

This is the most important, because you won’t spend much time anywhere you can’t sit down. While there are a few people who really love sitting on the ground, the rest of us prefer some sort of chair, couch, or lounge-seat. Covered or slightly enclosed areas are good for somewhat more comfortable furnishings, while the areas out in the sunlight need more durability to withstand the elements. Sometimes the best answer is some of each, allowing for sunlight or stars to accent your experience at times, while you might prefer shade with protection from weather during other times. Remember dining when you plan your outdoor seating.

Cooking

There is something about firing up the grill on a warm Spring or Summer evening and enjoying the weather. An outdoor kitchen is so much more than this, with options available that would entice the grilling king or even the pickiest gourmet chef into the outdoors. Before you choose, consider how you cook and what you enjoy eating the most. The features should fit your family and your tastes.

Fireplace or Fire pit?

While the fireplace is fun for summer, a fire pit is one feature that helps your backyard stay viable into the cooler months. S’mores and campfire stories are not the only reason that fire features are so nice. The crackle of the fire is mesmerizing and soothing. There is nothing as lovely as a charming evening around a fire, whether you’re roasting marshmallows with the kids or enjoying the company of friends.

Why Do We Need a Comfortable Outdoor Space?

We all know the benefits of fresh air and sunlight, but when do we take the time to enjoy the outdoors? This is often because the backyard is more of a chore than a pleasure. When we have the perfect setting for living that spills into the outdoors, we go there more often. This means we are living healthier and are happier. At  Varsity Pools, we would love to help you make your backyard into your favorite room of your house.

An Outdoor Fireplace Can Help You Enjoy Your Lawn All Year Long

Right now, when you think about spending time outdoors, you might think about doing so during the spring and summer. You might really look forward to when the weather warms up and you’re able to spend more time in your outdoor living space, but the good news is that you can quite easily start enjoying your lawn for much more of the year. To do so, consider installing an outdoor fireplace.

An Outdoor Fireplace Can Help You Enjoy Your Lawn All Year Long

First of all, an outdoor fireplace can look great and can help you set the mood in your outdoor living space. This is not the only benefit, however. For those who would love to be able to enjoy the crisp fall nights and even the winter weather from the comfort of the outdoors, an outdoor fireplace can be a lifesaver.

With an outdoor fireplace, you can quickly warm up your outdoor living space and make it a whole lot cozier. This means that you don’t have to stop hanging out or entertaining outdoors just because the temperatures drop a little bit. Instead, you can fire up your outdoor fireplace to make your outdoor living space a whole lot warmer.

If you feel as if you aren’t enjoying your outdoor living space as much as you should be and if you’d love to start spending more time outdoors all year long, contact us at Varsity Pools. Not only can we help you create an outdoor living space that you can enjoy during the warm months, but we can also help you make changes to help you and your family enjoy the outdoors during the cooler months as well.

4 Goals to Accomplish with a Backyard Remodeling Project

The right landscaping adds character and ambiance to your home. Backyard remodeling goes a step further by taking the space and creating something that is both functional and attractive. When planning a backyard remodel, here are four goals you should keep in mind to get the most out of your project.

4 Goals to Accomplish with a Backyard Remodeling Project

#1. Defining the purpose for your space

Are there certain things you would like to use your backyard for such as entertaining or recreation? If so, you should include them in your plans just as you would when coming up with a home building design. Have more than one purpose in mind? That’s great take advantage of decorative planters, fencing, or privacy screens to help divide your space into sections.

#2. Unifying your Landscaping

Perhaps there is no rhyme nor reason to your current landscaping. Maybe things do not flow together too well and you need them to be more harmonious. A backyard remodel can do that by adding elements such as garden walkways or new lighting to help tie everything together.

#3. Adding Symmetry and Balance

Many homeowners are unhappy with their backyards because things just feel somewhat out of whack. For example, there may be oversized trees and bushes that cover up your best architectural features, or you might have outbuildings that do not match the design of your home. All of these things can easily be corrected with the right backyard remodeling design.

#4. Accent your best features

Does your yard have unique features such as a garden pond that you would like to highlight? If so, the right remodeling scheme can bring this feature to the forefront, and could even expand on it with the use of additional landscaping, hardscaping, or lighting.

Backyard remodeling can add just as much beauty and value to your property as an interior remodeling project would. To get started on the project of your dreams, please contact us.
